Our Students – Robert Pritchard

After working as a supermarket merchandiser in Northampton, twenty-year-old Robert Pritchard decided to follow his passion for fitness and become a personal trainer, with the aim of changing people’s lives for the better.

With the help of The Training Room (TTR), Robert was able to turn his love for the gym into a career, to ultimately focus on health and fitness. He took part in a seven month course which aided him to achieve an accredited PT qualification.

The Training Room is a full service careers provider. In a nutshell, it specialises in high quality professional training across a range of industries, but its approach is underpinned with the fundamental belief that its role is to support each and every student during and after their training in order to provide the best career start possible.

Recently qualified and with around 20 clients to his name, fitness fanatic Robert who now works at DW Gym believes this change in direction was the best decision he made.

Robert comments: “I am a fitness freak. Before I became a personal trainer, I went to the gym five times a week, as well as playing football and this is what inspired me to want to have a career in personal training. It’s something that I enjoy doing and being able to really change people’s lives attracted me to the industry.

“I’ve always been into fitness. I started running when I was 12 and have always been active. Until the age of 18 I used to play youth football for Rushden & Diamonds. My career is now what I love to do, and I’ve really embraced the chance of being able to do this and change other people’s lives.”

After getting in contact with The Training Room, Robert took part in a seven month programme which covered a variety of subjects and involved a number of practical tests, as well as exams, to receive his PT accreditation.

Robert continues: “What I like best about running my own business is being my own boss. Everyone would love to be their own boss, and being in this industry allows you to do that. One of my favourite things about being a PT is that you can work for as many hours as you want to. If you really want to work hard and get your name out there, you should be able to work long shifts and always be on your feet talking to people, and this is exactly what I do.”

On talking about recommending The Training Room to others who are looking for a career change, Robert said: I would definitely recommend TTR. The amount of support and quality education you receive is fantastic. I found the training programme really good fun. Everyone on the course was really friendly, and the tutors are superb. They are very helpful and have good experience under their belts.

“It took me just a week to get my first client, and the gym I worked in really helped me get started. I currently have about 20 clients, and my goal is 40 per month!”

Robert is planning to take his business to bigger gyms around the region and working in cities, with the hope of working abroad in the future.

“There are so many doors a career in personal training can open, and it’s really worthwhile. I am in the process of creating my own website and will soon be promoting my business on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“I love what I do and everyone has the chance of turning their passions into careers with courses like this from The Training Room.”
