The Training Room - Personal Trainer Courses

Anthony Goodison

1) What is your job role?

Assistant Tutor at Solihull South Academy

2) Why are you so passionate about the health and fitness industry?

After a career in football came to an early end I became qualified in the health and fitness industry, my passion for football was soon forgotten once I started working in fitness. The variety of work you can do as a personal trainer means no day is the same, and the amount of different people you get to meet keeps the job exciting.

3) Please provide a brief summary of your previous experience:

I’ve worked in the health and fitness industry for over 8 years, having started as a fitness instructor with Healthland Partnerships. This is where I gained my confidence in teaching a range of classes and meeting a variety of different personalities. After 18 months I felt I was ready to set up my own personal training business, I approached local authorities and managed to get the contracts to use their facilities as a freelance personal trainer. I went on to teach a range of classes - spin, rebounding, circuits for them, as well as run the exercise referral programme. I have personal trained over 400 clients in my 6 years of personal training.

4) Why do you enjoy working at The Training Room PT?

I think it’s fantastic that I get paid to help train students up to be successful in an industry that is fantastic. The uniforms and tutors make the training room stand out in the industry.

5) What is the best thing about your academy?

We have lots of industry experience between us and our tutors will help you with your chosen career path. We work well as a team of tutors and will develop your skills to a very high standard.

6) What is your favourite part of the course?

My favourite part of the course is circuit training, Firstly delivering a master class to the students, then watching the students teach a class for themselves. This is where you can see the confidence starting to beam from them. Also the nutrition part of the course, I think this part of the course is fascinating and the students are keen to learn.

7) What can students expect from the course?

We are located at David Lloyd in Solihull South. Just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre. You’ll have access to all gym facilities, including a swimming pool and a large variety of studio classes. The course is broken down into different modules consisting of theory and practical work. The 6 weeks course goes very fast because of the course contents that you learn, the friendships you make with other students is dynamic and a pleasure to see from our point of view. This helps you after the course has finished and gives you the confidence in your new found career.
